On the 21st June France held its annual ‘Fête de la Musique’, a festival staged on the streets of every town in the country wherein anybody can add to the performance. The French cultural centre here in Vientiane organised its own event. Most of the performers were Lao, and the evening was a surprising mix of hip-hop, hard-rock / death metal, and a drag queen singing the hits of Edith Piaf and Frank Sinatra.Dans le respect de la tradition de l’hexagone, le centre culturel français de Vientiane avait organisé une Fête de la Musique dans ses murs.
